Unlucky campers vs Maple's misfortune

STARRING Maple FEATURING Giggles, Cuddles, Curtsy, Flaky

Cuddles and Giggles stepped out of their car. They were in an empty parking lot just off the side of the highway. Surrounding them was a vast and dense forest, littered with trees. Curtsy stepped out of the back seat and cuddles went up to Flaky’s door and opened it for her. “C’mon! Let’s go set up our campsite!” He undid her seat belt and reached for her hand. Flaky leaned away and tried to scoot slightly away from Cuddles. “I don’t know… what if there’s a bear or something?” Cuddles got another big reach and grabbed her hand. “Oh come on! There’s no bears! Don’t be such a downer! Let’s go have fun!” Flaky tried to resist his pull. “What about bees! Or mosquitos! Or-.” Cuddles gave a big yank and pulled Flaky out of the car, shutting the door behind her and locking the door. “Oh forget about bugs! Come on Flaky!” He started dragging her towards the campsite. The group all gathered their camping supplies and walked through the woods on a trail for some time until they found a clearing next to a lake. They were far enough that the cars were a good 15 minute walk away now, leaving them to themselves. They all took in their surroundings and then started setting up camp.

After some time the group had finished setting up camp and Cuddles put his hands on his hips. “Alright! Camp secure! Now let’s go on an adventure!” Curtsy looked up at Cuddles, and then back at his set up for his sculpting. “I think I’ll stay at camp, there’s so many critters here to take inspiration from!” Cuddles frowns a bit, but then looks at Flaky. “Well then it’ll be us 3!” Flaky shrinks down a bit and looks around. “Actually… i’d rather stay with Curtsy if you don’t-.” Cuddles grabbed her hand and nodded at Giggles, and the three started walking off the beaten path through the woods.

Maple was sitting on his slanted roof nailing in some boards to reinforce the roof of his cabin. He had a few boards lying around on the roof, within reach once he finished nailing the current board. He had been working for some time and checked his watch, a timer he had set earlier just started going off. He put his Hammer down on the roof and went over to his ladder and climbed off the roof. He grabbed his axe, just in case, and then started off into the woods.

As they walked through the woods Flaky kept getting held up by seeing things, she kept her head on a swivel, assessing her surroundings all the time and constantly making something out of nothing. After a bit of time she noticed a bird off in the distance and was mortified. After a while of staring in horror she spoke up. “Uhm… Cuddles… I want to go back…” After a moment of not hearing a response she turned and saw no sign of Cuddles or Giggles. Her eyes just widened. She started having a panic attack as all of her senses kicked into overdrive. She shook her head and then just started running in the direction where she thought camp was.

After a while of running she suddenly heard a loud branch snap. She looked over and saw a large beaver… holding an axe. She just Started sprinting for the hills for her life, with no idea where she was going.

Maple didn’t notice Flaky as he inspected a bear trap on the floor, he made sure there wasn’t an animal inside and then covered it back up with leaves, he looked off into the woods and started walking along again.

Giggles and Cuddles were still having a blast walking through the woods. “See Flaky! Nature is beautiful! And I haven’t even heard you complain about a bug once!” Cuddles exclaimed as he tried to nudge his shoulder behind him. But he didn’t contact anything, to his surprise he would turn around and find no one there. Giggles looked as well and her face dropped as her and Cuddles looked at each other for a moment. “FLAKYYYY!” Giggles suddenly calls out. Cuddles follows it up as he cups his hands around his mouth. “FLAKY WHERE ARE YOU?” They both turned around and started wandering around while calling out for Flaky.

After a bit, a small gust of wind blew through and Cuddles and Giggles felt lost. Suddenly Cuddles takes a step and doesn’t feel the floor. A loud crunch shoots out as a bear trap triggers and digs deep into his calf. He instantly falls to the ground and screams out in pain. Giggles instantly gets on the ground beside him and looks around. She tries to pry open the bear trap but doesn’t have the strength for it, she then looks around for something to help get it open but nothing was there. She looks at Cuddles for a moment with a look of hopelessness before looking around. “I’ll go get help!” Cuddles let out a few whimpers. “No! Don’t leave me here!” Giggles stands up. “If I don’t do anything you’ll die!” She starts running off as Cuddles looks in horror.

Maple checked another empty trap and as he set it back up he heard some whimpering nearby. He quickly snapped up and grabbed his axe, quickly running over to the source of the noise. He found Cuddles lying on the ground in a large pool of blood, barely conscious at this point. He quickly got down and pried the bear trap off. “Holy Fuck! Are you okay there!?! Cuddles was only able to whimper out in pain as he curled up a bit. “Come on, let’s get ya back to my cabin, I got a first aid kit somewhere!” Maple grabbed his tools in one hand and picked up Cuddles in the other, quickly running off towards his Cabin.

Maple Arrived at the cabin and set Cuddles down on a tree stump. “Just a second, stay here.” He ran inside and dropped his tools on the porch, which shook the whole structure a little. Cuddles looked up at the roof and saw a few boards starting to slip and as Maple fidgeted around inside, the boards were moved more and more. When Cuddles realized the boards were going to slip off of the roof it was already too late. Maple stepped outside with a Large metal box in hand and had front row seats to watch several squares of wood fall off the roof and crush or tear into Cuddles. Two thin pieces of wood were stuck in his face, and another long plank had broken both of his legs. The blood spatter coated the porch, Maple, and his tools. He panicked quite a bit as he ran over, but very quickly he realized that there was no chance Cuddles was alive.

Giggles made her way back to where Cuddles was, now equipped with a crowbar to help free him. However she found Cuddles missing, along with a blood trail leading further into the woods. She started following it, hoping that she could still save Cuddles.

After a bit she saw a cabin, as she got closer, she would also see a lot of red covering the front of the cabin. Then to her horror she saw a bloodied beaver standing over Cuddles, pulling pieces of wood out of his corpse. She let out a scream and dropped her crowbar, turning and bolting away as fast as she could. Maple looked over and saw Giggles. “Wait! This is a misunderstanding! I didn’t-!” She was already on her way out, so he grabbed his axe, again, for self defence from animals, and started running after her. “Slow down! I don’t want to hurt you! I was trying to save him!” Maple kept yelling at her as he tried to catch up. Giggles noticed that he was gaining on her and knew she couldn’t outrun him. “SOMEBODY HELP ME! HE’S GOING TO KILL ME!” She screamed out.

As they ran, Maple remembered something. “Hey! Watch out! There’s a bear-!” Giggles fell over on her face as another bear trap cut deep into her ankle, this one looked much worse than Cuddles. Giggles screamed out as she looked up at Maple who caught up in seconds. She put her hands up to try and brace for impact, but suddenly felt the bear trap get torn off. Maple tosses it aside and lifts her leg up, assessing the damage. “Uh oh… This is really bad…” Giggles had tears fill her eyes, but felt a slight bit of relief as she realized this guy wasn’t going to kill her… yet.

He extends a hand to her. “Cmon, let’s get you someplace comfy while I figure out how to stop this bleedin’.” Giggles whimpers a bit but eventually takes his hand. He lifts her leg to make sure it doesn’t touch the ground, and then walks her over to a tree. He looks up at it and sees a bunch of strong vines growing out. “Oh! That might just do!”

Maple gives the vine a tug and sees that it is firmly attached to the tree, so he grabs his axe and cuts off the bottom with a hard chop. The sound made Giggles jump as she looked up at the vine. Maple started pulling as hard as he could on the vine, putting all of his might in it. Giggles stared up in horror as she saw the vine pulling on a branch that had a large beehive on it. Giggle looked over at Maple. “NONO WAIT!” Maple suddenly yanked the vine off, but then looked down. “Huh?” The large beehive suddenly fell right on Giggle’s face, the swarm quickly making easy work of her face and completely brutalizing her.

Maple just watched in horror as Giggles poor corpse was completely destroyed by the bees. After a bit he grabbed his axe and just started running through the woods, on his way back to his car where he could just leave this horrible day.

Curtsy was just polishing up his wooden animal when his hearing aids shut off due to the battery dying. However he was so close to finishing that he looked around to make sure there was nothing around and then returned to polishing up the wooden beaver he had been sculpting.

Maple suddenly arrived at the campsite and saw Curtsy holding his beaver up in the sun, smiling to himself as the lighting just looked perfect. He turned to go put it back in his tent, and saw a bloody Beaver with an axe watching him. Maple quickly called out to him but he couldn’t hear anything, he just started running in the only direction away from Maple, the lake. “NO DON’T GO THERE! THERE’S CROCS!” Curtsy jumped into the lake and swam out as far as he could. Maple just stood on the shore as he saw a shadow approach Curtsy. Soon after something bit Curtsy’s leg and started spinning him around in the water, thrashing him about until he was dragged beneath the surface. Shortly after a few pieces of Curtsy rose up to the surface in a large pool of blood. Maple just yelled out in panic as he turned back to the path and ran for his truck, anything to escape this horrible day.

Flaky was completely and utterly exhausted, and worst of all, she was completely lost in the woods, alone, and with nowhere to go. She took a minute to catch her breath after so much running, but soon she would hear another branch snap near her. She snaps up and looks around, unable to see anything that could have made that noise. She starts back peddling, but stops dead in her tracks when she hears some growling behind her. She slowly turns around to see a wolf staring her down. She turns and starts running but she runs into another wolf that pounces on her and pins her down, taking a nasty bite out of her side. She screams out in pain, though the wolf’s bite rolled her over, presenting the wolf with a face full of spines, which made it yelp out in pain as it started to back off. But the original wolf bit down on Flaky’s foot and threw her off to the side. It chased her down and before she could ball up it bit her arm and shook its head until it tore off Flaky’s arm. Though the shaking made her back turn just enough to stab the wolf a few times in the foot, also getting it to yelp in pain and retreat with its catch of her arm.

Flaky was left in a small pool of blood crying to herself from the pain, but eventually she slowly hobbled herself onto her feet and slowly started limping along. After some time she heard a car whiz by in the distance, the sound filled her with a renewed hope as she started walking as fast as her mauled foot could take her.

Maple was speeding down the highway with a blank look on his face, he was mortified by all the death he had just witnessed today. He looked up at his mirror and readjusted it, but when he looked back at the road, Flaky had just stumbled out of a bush onto the highway. He slammed on the breaks but it was too late. The car smashed into Flaky, the initial hit split her in half and left her legs discarded on the highway as her torso flipped up and her back smacked into the windshield. Her spines punctured into the windshield all over, and quite a few poked right through Maples face, causing him to lose control of the car and swerve into the ditch, the final impact driving his face so far forward that a few of Flaky’s spines stuck out the back of his head.
