“Hey there, are you John?”

“Yeah! Good to see you, Alan. So as I understand it, you’re looking to make some larger corporate acquisitions? Scale into the production side of things?”

“Exactly! We’ve had a load of capital come in recently and are looking to build new revenue streams, so-“

“Wait, you are Alan, correct? You look like… someone else I know, a Steven.”

Steven flinched slightly. “No, I’m Alan Packard. Must be an odd coincidence.”

John eyed Steven suspiciously, but continued. “Well then, how much revenue are we talking about?”

“Somewhere around 300 million in income, after tax.” The gun in Steven’s waistband pressed coldly against his back.

“Ah, excellent! We’ve just been in contact with some rather large-scale producers recently that are right in that ballpark. Right off the bat, Stonechip comes to mind as an entity in the silicon business. Computer chips, all that. Last we heard, they would be asking around 280 for a full buyout…”

Steven tuned out. This bastard had killed Ella. Steven knew it was true; the evidence was doctored, the police were biased, the jury was cherrypicked, and the judge was incompetent. He was just the only who could see it. And the only one who could fix it.

“Hm. They sound like a good option, but still pretty high up the stack. I was thinking more ground-level, ripping stuff out of the ground and all.”

“I see! In that case, you’re going to love Saskagord. Multinational parent company of a number of regional corporations; their valuation is around 290, so you’d be looking at paying at least 400, but-“

Steven pulled out the gun and shot John four times in the head. And then turned it on himself, and gave it another pull.
